Rejuvenate your body, mind, and spirit
Hi there, I'm Bob Modee, and I've been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2005. Before finding my passion in massage therapy, I spent several years in the IT field, working in sales, marketing, and pre-sales support and design. While I was successful in my corporate career, I never truly felt fulfilled. My love for physical activity had always been a source of joy and a central part of my life. Since 1991, I've been teaching Shorin-Ryu karate, keeping me active and engaged with the power of the human body. In search of a more fulfilling career path that aligned with my passion for health and fitness, I made a life-changing decision to pursue massage therapy. This led me to Hesser College in Portsmouth, NH, where I immersed myself in the world of therapeutic massage, graduating in December 2004.
My decision to study at Hesser was driven by their strong focus on therapeutic massage as a healthcare profession rather than solely for relaxation. I wanted to use my skills to help people actively take charge of their physical well-being, and from the very beginning, I knew I had found my calling. I opened the White Crane Bodywork Center shortly after receiving my Maine LMT License, eager to share my passion with others. In 2008, I had the opportunity to return to Hesser as an instructor, passing on my knowledge and experience to aspiring massage therapists until 2011. I am a proud member of the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP) and I hold a Personal Trainer certification from the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF). In 2016, I furthered my expertise by becoming certified in Myofascial Release Massage (MRM).
Outside of massage therapy, my love for karate continues to be a significant part of my life. I hold a seventh-degree black belt in Shorin Ryu karate and actively train with Shihan Greg Lazarus of the New England Okinawan Karate Dojo. I ran my own dojo from 1991 to 2014, and have even had the privilege of traveling to Okinawa twice to train with Grand Master Fusei Kise.
About Massage
Massage therapy has a rich history, dating back thousands of years, with evidence suggesting its use in nearly every society on Earth. For a long time, Western medicine was hesitant to acknowledge the health benefits of massage, but modern research has firmly established its effectiveness in treating a variety of conditions.
At White Crane Bodywork Center, we offer a range of massage therapies designed to address your specific needs. My primary focus is on therapeutic massage, which aims to diagnose and treat musculoskeletal problems. My expertise lies in Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular, Trigger Point, and Myofascial Release Therapies. These techniques work deeply within the muscles and connective tissues to alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, improve range of motion, and promote overall well-being.
These massage modalities increase oxygen delivery and waste removal from muscles and organs. They release tension, restrict ions in muscles, and help keep muscles loose and relaxed to maintain peak condition. Massage therapy can also have a profound impact on emotional stress, clearing a path for a more focused mind. Whether your goal is to prepare for a sporting event, recover from an injury, or simply improve your overall health and vitality, I invite you to schedule a consultation.
My diverse training background, coupled with my years of experience in the healthcare field, allows me to provide a unique and personalized approach to massage therapy. I am dedicated to helping each client achieve their individual goals and regain control over their physical well-being.
